Event Description:

In partnership with the Georgia Driver’s Education Commission (GDEC), Athens Technical College provides driver’s ed training to students who are preparing to be safe, knowledgeable drivers. This course will enable students to master various driving performance skills and develop appropriate responses to minimize risk and gain experience that will make them safer on the road.

The class is divided into 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind-the-wheel training. It meets all necessary requirements of Joshua’s Law which states that 16 year olds must complete a course approved by the Department of Driver Services (DDS) in order to receive a license. Those who do not complete an approved course must wait until age 18 to become licensed.

NOTE:  Students must have a learner's permit to participate in the class.

Date/Time Information:
Classes are in-person, instructor-led for the first two weeks (September 28 - October 9) from 4:00 PM to 7:45 PM.  Individual one-on-one driving instruction begins October 12 through November 9 by appointment.

Fees/Admission:

The full driver’s education course is $350, and payment by phone is accepted.

A limited number of one-time scholarship vouchers are
