Job Description
Remote Status: On-Site
 
Reporting to the General Manager, the Controller is a key member of the site leadership team and is responsible for all financial reporting and the accuracy of financial transactions for the location.  This is a hands-on individual contributor role with management responsibility for an accounting team including on-site A/R and A/P support, staff accountant(s), and/or cost accountant(s).  The Controller has full responsibility for the plant finance & accounting functions including GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Cost accounting, and Treasury.

  • Prepares monthly management reporting package of financial statements including P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow and variance analysis on key performance indicators 
  • Prepares weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reporting to support decision-making and accurate forecasting 
  • Performs quarterly balance sheet reconciliation reviews
  • Prepares annual budget and quarterly forecasts, including preparation of bridges, sales & margin analysis, etc. 
  • Prepares and submits weekly cash forecasting and other periodic reporting (daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly and ad-hoc) 
  • Coordinates capital expenditure requests and tracking of approved projects 
  • Serves as lead contact for assigned sites during internal and external audits; accountable for timely and accurate responses to audit requests 
  • Serves as lead contact for assigned sites respective to annual tax return preparation or other periodic tax requests  
  •  Advises staff on accounting issues, establishing and enforcing common policies and procedures across the organization 
  • Selects, develops, and manages assigned staff, holding them accountable for performance and behavior 
  • Regular attendance on-site at the workplace is required
Required Education and Work Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in accounting for a manufacturing company; aerospace industry experience is advantageous
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in cost accounting
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in supervision of direct reports
Other Required Skills and Abilities
  • Comprehensive knowledge of US GAAP application to a manufacturing company environment 
  • CPA designation (GA) highly preferred
  • Full cycle budgeting, tax compliance, and audit experience is required
  • Advanced excel skills are required
  • ERP experience required; Infor Visual experience preferred
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities to appropriately handle unexpected challenges 
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality, securing company records, and demonstrating integrity in communications and actions 
  • Self-management skills including efficiency, sense of urgency, ability to adapt and respond to unexpected circumstances, and ability to juggle multiple projects, competing priorities, and meet concurrent deadlines 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English) 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and advanced Excel skills;  Proficiency in use of ERP systems for manufacturing is essential 
  • Sets an example for integrity, communication, and compliance for others in the organization by following policies, communicating professionally, and providing timely responses to internal customers 
Physical Demands and Work Environment
The typical work environment is an office setting; occasionally the employee may be required to visit the manufacturing areas where they could be exposed to loud noises, fumes/odors and hazards associated with moving equipment.  The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear may be required.
 
Travel
Occasional domestic travel may be required; some overnight travel may be required.  Due to location proximity, most travel will be by ground transportation so a valid Driver’s License and acceptable driving record to meet insurance standards is required.
