ATHENS, Ga. – The Friends of Athens-Clarke County Library and Avid Bookshop present an evening with local author Will Leitch to celebrate the launch of his latest novel, The Time Has Come, on Tuesday, May 16, at 7:00 p.m.

The book, set in Athens, blends suspense, humor and compassion in a story about seven strangers and one very intense evening at a small-town pharmacy.

In the book, Lindbergh’s Pharmacy has recently become the object of attention of lo-cal teacher Tina Lamm. Tina is certain something untoward is happening at Lindbergh’s and intends to do something about it. Tina’s suspicions connect her to a group of six employees and customers inside the pharmacy. Their fates become intertwined in a story that is funny, touching and tense. Leitch illuminates how we live through a story of people struggling to do their best.

Leitch is author of How Lucky, also set in Athens. How Lucky was a 2022 Edgar Award nominee for Best Novel, a 2022 American Library Association’s Alex Award Winner, and an Amazon Best Book of the Year and Book of the Month Club main selection.

Leitch is a contributing editor at New York magazine and writes weekly for the maga-zines Intelligencer and Vulture. He also writes regularly for NBC News, The New York Times, The Washington Post, Medium and MLB.com. He lives in Athens with his wife and two sons.

This author event is free and open to the public. Books will be available for purchase and signing by Avid Bookshop. For more information, call the library at 706-613-3650 or visit athenslibrary.org. The Athens-Clarke County Library is located at 2025 Baxter Street, Athens.
