Historic Athens Invites Community to Cobbham by Candlelight – Holiday Gala 2024, Presented by Jarrett Martin Group

ATHENS, GA – November 12, 2024 – Historic Athens is delighted to announce the return of its annual Historic Athens Holiday Gala, set to illuminate the storied Cobbham neighborhood on Sunday, December 8. Presented by the Jarrett Martin Group, this year’s gala, themed Cobbham by Candlelight, marks the first time in over a decade that the celebration will be held in the historic Cobbham district.

For more than 40 years, the Historic Athens Holiday Gala has united the community in celebrating the spirit of the season in Athens’ cherished historic neighborhoods. This year’s event offers a unique tour of homes, showcasing a century of architecture alongside curated local food, beverages, and live entertainment.

Event Highlights
From 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, general admission guests will enjoy exclusive access to beautifully decorated homes throughout the Cobbham Historic District, Athens’ oldest neighborhood. Each home captures the neighborhood’s timeless charm and heritage. Seasonal cuisine will be provided by Epting Events, and wine selections by The Lark Winespace. Guests can also take advantage of a complimentary trolley circulator through Cobbham, provided by Athens Trolley Tours in partnership with Historic Athens.

Ways to Support Historic Athens
The Gala will feature an exclusive Wine and Whiskey Pull, offering guests a chance to select a mystery bottle—wine for $30 or whiskey for $50. With options ranging from popular picks to premium finds, led by sommelier Krista Slater. Presales are available with ticket purchases, and all proceeds benefit Historic Athens. A silent auction will also be held during, featuring unique items and experiences to support Historic Athens’ preservation initiatives.

Exclusive Experiences to Add
VIP ticket holders are invited to begin the festivities early with a private reception from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM at the Bondurant House (ca. 1905) at 725 Cobb Street. This intimate gathering will feature a cocktail hour with specialty spirits and hors d’oeuvres in a charming setting before the gala opens to general admission guests.

Additionally, guests can reserve a spot at the exclusive High West Whiskey Tasting, held at 6:00, 7:00, and 8:00 PM in the Old Clarke County Jail. This guided tasting experience will feature premium whiskey selections. Due to limited seating, early reservations are encouraged.
