Project Safe will present their annual Groovy Nights Fundraiser on September 21st at 8:00 P.M and feature performances by Athens locals and music by DJ Tic. We will have Erin and Josh Podvin as the emcees. The event will be at the VFW on Sunset Drive.

Groovy Nights is one of the main fundraisers for Project Safe. The event is a retro lip-sync battle and disco party. This year seven teams are competing for trophies for Judges’ Favorite and Audience Favorite. Regular Tickets are $35 and table seat tickets are $55. Both include food and drink.

Joan Prittie, Executive Director at Project Safe describes Groovy Nights as an event to celebrate the 1970’s and 80’s “the formative decades for our organization and the movement to end domestic violence.”

In the 70’s and 80’s, Project safe was a volunteer network of safe houses. Project safe has continued to grow over the years thanks to the support from the community. This event is a way for us to celebrate our beginnings while raising funds for all the programs and services we offer now.

All proceeds from the event will go directly to Project Safe and to provide the much-needed support to those affected by domestic violence. In 2023, Project Safe answered 3,475 hotline calls, sheltered 109 adults and children and provided services to 741 survivors through the outreach office. Dust off your disco ball and join us for a night of fun and fundraising.
